Similar thing here. I can completely, fully see the difference between SD and HD on pretty much all programmes - but when I went to see Avatar in 3D, I only saw a few things that felt like 3D which weren't even part of the movie; a trailer for 'Step Up', one of the film company's logo animation, and the on-screen graphics for the main character's video diary.
