The chap who threw eggs at JB at a recent concert was 17 as I recall.
Somehow both Jedward and Bieber make certain groups (mainly young/youngish males) feel threatened in some way. I have suggested a couple of types of envy: it may not be quite the right word but perhaps more a feeling of inadequacy, viz.
"Why should those two be getting so much attention and money when I don't and I'm about the same age as them... etc".
Yes, Jedward can be annoying - nobody can doubt that. But there people with FAR more annoying traits and we don't seem to get quite as worked up about it, do we?
