...i think if u watch her facial expressions when she intentionally says silly stuff, particularly in the diary room, it's a fair indicator she's role playing. she may not be the next Stephen Hawkins in the intellectual stakes, but it's pretty clear she's dumming herself down for entertainment value/popularity (...as many others have done before her!).
