Because she is his friend, not his keeper. Anyhow, you obviously have not noticed, but Tom does not do 90% of his bitching around Alex. She may be unaware of the majority of it.
Tom's relationship with Aaron is their business,and trying to somehow blame Alex for it is pretty lame :/

Because she wouldn't. Alex would protect her best friend till the end, not sacrifice them for some random just invented 'principle' that's just a smokescreen to cover a tactic to win.
Alex was not talking about the aaron/ Faye relationship in general, she was talking about the one act of saying he wouldn't put her first given the chance. She is perfectly entitled to say that to the group.
As for saying it to Aaron... maybe she didn't feel comfortable or obliged to chase after him in his victim sulk/ strop and have a difficult conversation with a difficult grown man who should know better.

Two... Guilt? Maybe Alex didn't WANT to be saved at the expense of others? Some people, including me, would be funny about that.
Alex was obviously willing to be up, due to her support of the team voting, and for someone to give her as the excuse, unasked for, for backstabbing the group obviously didn't sit well with her.
