The girl has confidence issues. The slightest remark such as - Are you going to wear that tonight - how ever inoffensive is taken as criticism. When you see how how Jem and Mrs Palmer treat her you can understand this in a way.

I'm not a Faye supporter so this isn't intended as an excuse, but I can see where she's coming from.
