BB1 was only good really because of Nasty Nick.If you take his scheming out of the equation then there was nothing much going on other than Melanie's flirting with Tom and Andy and plucking her pubes in the garden.
BB7 (as did BB8) introduced too many new HMs and had way too many twists. House next door, second chance house it lost a clear narrative.

How can there have been many talking points without live stream? The only talking points were those the producers wanted you to have. Also fewer people watched it which meant there was less discussion. But then you say you prefer a clear 'narrative', which suggests you want the producers to control all discussion.
