I'm not even sure it is that she fancies him, I think she's so full of her own self importance that she cannot understand or comprehend how he is not interested in her, such is her massive ego - and she cares not for how much of an arse she is making of herself. her fondness for the drink overides her desire to have any pride or dignity in herself.
