One of my friends told me he was gay years ago and I was the only person in the world who knew... Eventually, after a long story and about two years, he took his mammy out for a meal and told her. I think he found the whole thing horrific tbh, but she was supportive and understanding and I swear he changed almost overnight. It was like a huge weight had been lifted from him: he became chilled out and happy to be himself. I think he saw his mum as the biggie to have to tell and after that was out the way, he found it quite natural to be able to tell other friends etc.
So yeah, I reckon the parents are probably the biggest problem when coming out... I reckon it takes a lot of bravery, but I think the majority of parents will be on your side.

It is a shame for those people who come out and their parents are unable to deal/accept it and in some cases disown their son/daughter or chuck them out of the home
