I don't think he was really that famous or well known in the UK. People might recognise his face but I doubt most people in the UK really would be able to identify him before this show. A lot of the housemates had to ask his name when they first met him, even the american twins. And what the twins said about people seeing all his films is nowhere near true.
He's not exactly an oscar winning actor. He's more like the guy you seen in some films and you need to ask someone his name.
