Whle I agree that companies who employ people should have the right to dispense with unproductive or badly performing staff, I don't think a blanket legislation is possible or fair.

Having said that,if I had a company, where one or more staff were lazy and did not do their fair share,or even do most of their expected work at all. Also if I had staff who were unruly and/or caused friction with other staff then I would hope to be able to bring their employment to an end quicker than through all the warnings procedures.

The dangers with the legislation proposed by the Conservatives would likely be that companies could just get rid of anyone as they wished within a certain time frame and that would be wrong unless there were really strong and undisputable facts as to their inability or suitability not to remain employed in the company.

Sometimes the Lib Dem conscience does surface still,overall I am glad it has on this issue.
