Exclamation Fuel tanker dispute deal looks unlikely

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17753488l

Quote:
Tanker drivers' representatives are likely to reject a deal with company bosses aimed at averting strikes in the fuel dispute, the BBC understands.

Proposals were drawn up during six days of negotiations last week between the Unite union and company bosses.

Union sources say the representatives are likely to reject the plans in a vote later.

BBC correspondent John Moylan said the two sides might now reconvene at the conciliation service Acas.

The news meant the offer on the table was not regarded as sufficient but it did not necessarily mean the dispute would escalate, he said.

Unite has until Friday to accept a deal or announce a strike, after a deadline for calling industrial action was extended.

It would then have to give seven days' notice of any industrial action.

Wednesday's talks, involving 60 representatives of drivers at seven haulage firms, are continuing.
Don't panic !
