Default Political correctness- Winterval and other such calamities

Over previous years, Birmingham City Council have re-named Christmas as 'Winterval' so as not to offend Muslims, Hindus and other faiths. My guess is they will stick with that name this year.

Is this the daftest thing youve ever heard?

I understand the sentiment, but non-Christian religious festivals are not re-named (such as Ramadam, Diwali etc). I dont hear anyone being offended by these.

It seems that everything is done to cater for Muslims etc, and that its okay to upset Christians. Why?

Britain is, in the main, a Christian society and should be treated as such.
