Saints Row: The Third is to receive its first stand-alone expansion, THQ has announced.
Titled Enter the Dominatrix, the expansion will take place after the events of the game with an alien warlord capturing the leader of the Saints and trapping him in a virtual simulated reality.
The simulated reality naturally grants him super powers, which will open up new gameplay possibilities to players.
"Faster than a speeding cyber jetbike, more powerful than a roided-out Luchadore, able to leap flying aircraft carriers in a single bound... That's the power you'll find inside the Dominatrix," said THQ executive vice president Danny Bilson.
"Use it for good. Use it for evil. Use it for whatever you want. As always in Saints Row, it's up to you."
"Freaking super powers," Bilson added.
The expansion was originally teased by THQ as an April Fools' joke last month. Not only is it real, but Joystiq has confirmed it will release as a stand-alone retail expansion for $29.99, and not require the original game to play.
This means that the Saints Row season pass for DLC will not grant access to the expansion.
Previous add-ons for Saints Row: The Third have included the vampire themed Bloodsucker Pack, Gangstas in Space, and bizarre game show Genki Bowl VII.
Saints Row: The Third - Enter the Dominatrix will release for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
