Only 10 countries in the entire world have gay marriage, so it's really not getting with the times. the fact that that there are 9 states that already have gay marriage means America is already ahead of the times in a lot of ways. Young Americans already overwhelmingly support gay civil rights, unfortunately though, young people are also the least likely to vote and voter turnout among young people is very low.
Civil partnerships are nothing, and are just another form of discrimination. Civil partnerships are no different than having separate drinking fountains for blacks.
