But for me It begins and ends with the housemates, and the tasks but to a lesser extent.
If they get the mix wrong everything else turns to crud...However if you have great housemates you dont notice the other stuff

I kind of agree but for me, where it's noticeable is when the staging is so OTT and tacky that it just makes the whole show feel brain killingly cheap.
I suppose in a way, since the move to channel 5, the housemates they've picked contribute to that feeling. Lacking any variety in the personalities.
