Default Fed comment gets RI:SE in trouble

The Independent Television Commission has said Channel 4's breakfast show, RI:SE, breached part of the Programme Code pertaining to bad language when Fed described the comments of another Big Brother housemate as "a bag of wa*k".

Although the presenter picked up on it and immediately offered an apology, the phrase was subsequently discussed and repeated by an American guest, Coolio, who was apparently unaware of the meaning of the word. A more formal apology was broadcast later in the programme, but one viewer insisted the language was "totally unsuitable in a programme broadcast in family viewing time, and that it had been heard by his children," according to the ITC.

Channel 4 apologised for the offence caused, and said all guests on the show are briefed not to swear. C4 added that Fed was warned he would not be allowed to return to RI:SE if the use of bad language continued.
