They're normally announced a while in advance.
It's one of those threads that is meant to be all in fun, when really, it's a way to rip the arse out of fms on the 'pretext that it's all in good humour' .... massively large pinches of salt to be taken during it.
It is FAF though - some of the categories are uniquely brilliant and it IS really funny!
