Besides, as mentioned in the OP, this 'child' you're mentioning is between 17 and 19 years old. That's well past the age of responsibility. I wouldn't turn myself in for any of my children, no matter what age (when/if I have children), but certainly not for someone who's 13 and/or above. At that age they obviously know what they're doing fully well so no excuses, I don't think, should be made on their behalf.
