In the house it is very possible to compose a song, play some games, have a nice chat, do a workout, meditate or even just go to sleep. Use a little bit of imagination and you can find hundreds of alternatives!

That does not even begin to make sense. How is it being lazy when you're engaged in an action? I would agree that smoking out of boredom is habitual, but lazy, I don't think so. You have people who pick their noses when they're bored, bite their nails, eat, read a book, go for a walk, etc.
Just because the person is engaged in an activity you don't approve of does not mean they are lazy. If they're trying to quit and give in, I don't consider it lazy; lack of will power, ok, but not lazy.
I can't speak for all people trying to make changes, but as much as I feel that we can get engrossed in bad habits, we also should know we are capable of sticking to them. It's not easy, but definitely possible.
