I agree, to be honest, I think Windows 8 is more aimed at tablets and touchscreen PCs than desktop PCs. There's really no need to upgrade to Windows 8, 7 has everything that your gonna need for at least the next 7 years. It's your PC that you upgrade, rather than your operating system. And heck, if you ever find your desktop looking outdated, there's always rainmeter, which can make your Windows 7 desktop look like this (among many other things)
