It was a total fix up for Luke S. The producers decided who won and who got the prize.
The alienation of Adam was cruel and very intentional, they probably hoped it would cause friction…and it did. Perfect for negative HL’s.
Any task/event in the house is supposed to be decided by the actions, or the decisions, of the HM's. Not by who the producers want to reward.
