Most of us would have tried to hit the buzzer. 50K is hard to turn down, unless you are already wealthy. So I don't have an issue with him there.

And I know that he's feeling raw over it, thats obvious, on the whole I think he dealt with it quite well.

But trying to cover it up and talk about not going against his morals, just doesn't make him look good.
