Its a TV show, just look at as the season finale until the next one. It is a normal feeling though. I forgot who said this, but some famous psychologist said that human happyness is composed of looking forward to and planning a series of events. For example, birth, baptisms, first days of school, communions, graduations, weddings, jobs etc..etc..
That humans tend to be happiest and most fullfilled in the planning and executon but that afterwards you are left empty and looking for the next thing to do to find that happyness and excitement again..... I think there is some truth to this because after my wedding I felt so depressed, the event that kept me busy for a whole year was finally over and done with so fast that I barely remember what happened.
I guess what you are feeling is similar to this, you get involved, wrapped up in the excitement, the debates, the fights and disagreements and once it is over you are left empty and in search for the next thing.
