Songwriter Hal David (Close to You, Walk on By) passes away
SUCH a great collection of songs he's penned

The Huffington Post reports that Hal David, the songwriting partner of Burt Bacharach, has died of complications from a stroke. He was 91.
Although David collaborated with several artists and composers, his best-known body of work is his collaborative material with Bacharach. The two met in 1957 when they both worked in the Brill Building, the legendary Tin Pan Alley songwriting hub. The Bacharach and David songbook includes "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head", "Walk On By", "What the World Needs Now Is Love", "What's New Pussycat?", "Close to You", "The Look of Love", and many more. This year, David and Bacharach were awarded the Library of Congress' Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.
