I don't think people hate him at all, i think some people were annoyed by him being obnoxious and loud and cocky in the DR. He wasn't saying anything particularly funny or clever, just talking himself up, and we didn't see much out of him for most of the series.
Britney and Ian have been just as good if not better game players before Dan's big move last week.
