I get the humour just dont find it funny now. Ive moved on. Clarey hasnt. Hes still peddling the same gaggs from 1993.Thats why hes not on TV. Bless him. We live in a world where our milkmen etc are gay. No biggy. Except noone seems to have told julian that nobody realy cares if hes a 53 year old homosexual. Ott gay humour is very dated now. im no fan of film producer Judd Apatow films but hes capturing the zeitgeist comedy mood.

if anything comedy is now more masculinised. gays used to boast about having the smart one liners, now the straight men do.

Now even female comics are moving on from that camp/ girly stuff. in movies theres been a trend to no longer depict gay guys as the asexual effeminate guy with the predictable camp gags but as a bloke who is masculine sloppy and bit of a dumb jock who just happens to like men.

Still I was shocked goodyear didnt get the white swallow gag. when he did the "i used to work at the circus" i rolled my eyelids ( and was again shocked non of hm saw joke coming a mile off) as he tol that SAME joke on Sat Night Live 30 years ago. He doesnt even have new material.

im no fan of russell brand but he took camp humour, laced it with laddishness and heterosexuality and made it modern and different. julian clarey reminds me of that woman from 1970s sitcom "Are You Being Served" who goes on about her "pussy". Yep that naff.
