He survives and the other night I saw 'my sister's keeper' about a young girl with Leukemia. She dies at the end of the film. I'm not sure how realistic they really are but they did give me a good insight and a 'wake up' call into the whole thing.
I recently had a family friend die of cervical cancer she was only 35. Kind of made me think a bit more carefully I guess.
