I am in no way a party political person so have no allegiances to any of the 3 main parties, I have voted Conservative for the Council elections and for my sins Lib Dem in the General election.

I have been watching as much as I can the Party conferences,I think it a pity that they are hidden away on the Parliament channel in the main and not,(at least the main speakers), on mainstream TV as they used to be.

Nick Clegg as ever made a good speech but sadly, no matter what he says now, I will always be suspicious as to believing him so it went rather straight through one ear and out the other with me what he said.

Ed Miliband, I thought oh crumbs here we go, more condescending speech likely and little else, however to be fair, I was surprised.
I was impressed with the no notes in hand or available, I also liked learning a bit more about him and his Parents, it was a more get to know me better speech but I warmed to him definitely.
I watched it with 15 others,of whom all but 1 were not either surprised how better it was or impressed.

I expected little as to detailed policy, this far from a General Election that was always unlikely, the present parties in Govt cannot say what they will for sure do next year never mind after the next election.
To be fair, I was personally quite impressed at the flow of delivery of the speech and also the content, he held my attention and I agreed with much he had to say as well as also disagreeing on other matters.

What he maybe set out to achieve was to show he wasn't a weak, uninspiring leader who had no hope of becoming PM.
In fact, even many of my staunch Conservative friends say he went some way to taking that opinion out the picture.

Overall I would give him an 8 out of 10, he will need in 2014 to really have firm detail as to policies to present in his speech then but for this year, he did good and I did find myself thinking, he could just manage to win outright in 2015.
He will near for certain lead the party that gets the most seats in Parliament after the 2015 election, for me for one reason.

That reason being the speech today, that near all my Politics student friends,no matter their party allegiances fully agreed with, the speech by Andy Burnham and his condemnation of the Coalitions NHS,( disastrous), reforms, we all watched that one and all but 3 smiled and even cheered when he said he would be repealing the Coalitions NHS reforms if Labour win in 2015.

That was the real speech of the conference, Ed Miliband's speech though was in my view well presented, flowed near perfectly and was a refreshing change as well as being unexpected as to its format.

Roll on next week when the Conservative party take on the conference role,I expect David Cameron to make a really good speech as he always does but for me the NHS is going to ruin his hopes of any chance of an overall majority at the next election, those reforms were a really bad move and also very unwise reforms to do across the board as to the NHS in my opinion.
Even Conservative supporters I know and talk to fear a backlash from the voters as to that policy.
