It's not... but quoting like that does not take account of context.

I must say I'm getting slightly miffed at how a few people keep going over these moderating decisions with a fine tooth comb, trying to pick out 'inconsistencies'.

Firstly, moderators might not see every post and can't deal with things they don't see.

Secondly, posts have to taken in context - if someone snaps back with an insult after he or she is attacked it is not as bad as if they made the insult out of the blue, and started an argument.

Thirdly, we try to avoid giving warnings and bans if possible. It is only a last resort and you have to give new members some leeway.

Fourthly, there is no exact science to moderating - you can only do what you feel is right.

Fifthly, there is no fifthly.

As I said before if everyone stuck to the rules, didn't make personal remarks, reported offending posts instead of responding on the thread, used the ignore button etc. no-one would be warned!

If people are getting warnings it means the rules of the forum are being broken, and they only have themselves to blame.
