The founder of antivirus software giant McAfee is reportedly wanted for murder in Belize.

John McAfee is said to be the prime suspect in the murder of Gregory Faull, a fellow American expatriate who was gunned down on Saturday night (November 10) at his home.

Gizmodo reports that the two men had been engaged in a long-running feud, with Faull recently filing a formal complaint against McAfee for allegedly firing off guns and exhibiting roguish behaviour.

The website claims that McAfee was an amateur pharmacologist and has experimented with hallucinogenic drugs.

McAfee posted a number of times on internet message boards to discuss his attempts to purify the psychoactive compounds MDPV, colloquially known as 'bath salts'.

There is speculation that the increasingly intensive use of these psychosis-inducing hallucinogens led to his growing detachment from the community around him.

Faull's body is currently awaiting a post-mortem examination. Police are yet to establish a motive for the murder but are establishing several leads.
