The Davina story. A 'friend' is quoted.

CRACKERS FOR TV
SAD DAVINA GOES FROM BB TO AA ONLY 7 DAYS TO GO

by MARK JEFFERIES

STRESSED Davina McCall is reportedly going back to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. She fears her pressured lifestyle could make her turn to drink again. The Big Brother host, 39, has just had a third baby and also had to put up with massive criticism following her flop chat show.

Pressure

Another BBC show, He’s Having A Baby, was also axed from the schedules.

And the pressure, combined with having to kick off Celebrity Big Brother in a week, means she is considering going back to AA sessions.

She confided in a friend: “I’m worried it’s getting too much for me again.

“I’m back at work soon and the temptation to have a drink when I’m stressed could be a problem. “It’s better that I start dealing with things now, rather than getting further down the line.” Davina, who gave birth to son Chester in September, has bravely battled with drink and drug demons in the past but has been clean for almost 15 years.

But the telly star, who has sensibly returned to attend Alcoholics Anonymous at other stressful times, is once again considering taking action.

In the past Davina has admitted to taking cocaine, ecstasy and heroin during her 20s.

She also confessed that she still sometimes needs support meetings for counselling.

She has said: “I because I need to.”

On top of the pressure of her career, Davina is also putting pressure on herself to lose her baby weight in time for the Celebrity Big Brother launch on January 3.

A source revealed: “She’s been working out in the gym three times every week and is cutting out fatty foods. Davina is determined to look fabulous and to wow the critics with the show.”

Last year Davina admitted that although she has been clean for a long time, she feared she could one day be tempted to go back to taking drugs.

Support

The TV star revealed: “If I were to get drunk and someone said: ‘ Do you want a line?’ I can’t guarantee that I would have the wherewithal to say no.”

Fortunately Davina has the strong support of her husband of six years, Matthew Robertson, 39, as well as good friends.

A spokesman for Davina unavailable to comment. If you need help with a drink problem contact Alcoholics Anonymous on 0845 769 7555.
