I am sick to death of C5's obsession with the celebrity series, and I am particularly worried by how many people are now starting to prefer it. I overheard someone the other day say 'I only like and watch the celebrity one, the normal one is so boring', this is exactly the kind of thing C5 want and it's awful. CBB was always supposed to be a little bit of fun in the terrible month of January, something to watch and tide the time over until the main event in the summer. Now it's like some regurgitated, never-ending thing that just won't piss off. It hit me the other day when Emma said 'in a few days time we'll be crowning our first celebrity winner of the year' just how ridiculous it is - we've got another batch of z-listers to put up with and yet again the main show is going to be cut short just so that we can roll out three more weeks of the overexposed CBB.

To be honest I'm just sick of the fascination with celebrities on all of these shows, it's like the public have no place on them anymore. Dancing celebrities, skating celebrities, diving celebrities, celebrities answering questions, celebrities eating kangaroo bollocks...just ****ing stop already. It's as if all networks are quickly conjuring up ideas for what celebrities could be doing next...celebrities sh*tting! Celebrities wanking! Celebrities *****ing! CELEBRITY S&M!!!!!!

What's interesting about Big Brother is how you get to know the housemates with no preconceived ideas about them, most of them with no media training and are just going in for the experience, the game, fame, whatever. It's interesting to see how they interact with each other, what relationships/friendship form etc. They're also a lot less reserved and won't hold back because they've not much to lose. And it lasts longer (and should return to 13 weeks again if it weren't for...you guessed it, another series of CBB), there's much more time to get to know them and for stuff to happen.

Big Brother is and always will be the daddy of reality TV. The original and best.

God forbid it's ever axed and we're just left with it's little sister. Sh*t will hit the fan.
Best post I've read all week
