You're right people can have preferences. What gets to me more is this notion of 'having to have a preference' which seems to be quite prevalent in the gay community. I'm only new-ish to that community so i'm not that knowledgeable on the matter but I just think it's sad that it has to be an issue in the first place. I think what i'm getting at is that it would be really nice if 'top or bottom' didn't have to be a choice in homosexual intercourse like it isn't in heterosexual intercourse. I'm jealous of that
