I don't see the problem here, Nicole. If you play your hand right to could set yourself up quite nicely. I'd look at things like doubling your salary. I'd also ask for a guarantee in writing about things like management courses (if they run them), and set future targets that if you meet you will trigger bonuses/promotions etc.
Companies always try to pay people the minimum they can get away with, as they exist purely to create profits. Think of where you could go, and plan a path together that if you keep your end of the bargain, then you guarantee yourself development.
