I've never understood why us Brits worry where we finish up in a biased, politically-motivated song contest.
If we seriously wanted to win it, don't you think we'd be entering performers with a proven track record of song writing and record sales rather than the usual non-entities with no discernible talent? As I treat the whole contest with laughable contempt, I suggest a new appoach and send in failed ex-Pop Idol contestants as our entrants. How I'd laugh to see the guy with the gold suit who sang Tainted Love; the young scientist, James, who sang Great Balls Of Fire or, best of all, the girl with the vocal gymnastics trying to get her tongue around a Britney Spears song as any of our representatives.
Either that, or just withdraw from it altogether. The way things are going in the world of politics I don't feel very European anyway.
