I wouldn't put Rooney in the Best, Charlton & Law category at all. Looking from the outside, he's a worse player now than when he broke through, but I don't see his all round play week in week out, so maybe he is a much better player and I don't see it. When he broke on to the scene, he looked as though he could be what Messi and Ronaldo have turned into. He was taking teams on, powering through them and finishing.

I'll accept your judgment on his abilities, but I'd be interested to know what older united fans who actually saw best and Charlton play, say about where he fits in your GOAT list.
