Rooney was absolutely amazing that campaign. His best season in his whole career. Had he not been injured in Munich in the Champions League quarter final we'd of won the league and stood a good chance of conquering Europe. He was that good.

It was the media who reported the £150,000 a week. However, it's not as bigger headline as saying he's on £250k. That 'in excess' line is based on clauses.
