My dad nearly died on holiday once... He is not a strong swimmer and there was a sudden drop in the pool which took him by surprise. My mum jumped in to help him and he nearly drowned her by pushing on her to try and keep his head above water. They were both ok thankfully but my dad made sure both my brother and I took swimming lessons and try never took their eyes off us. Although we only went abroad once as kids so it didn't matter that much. It was the most scared I can remember being as a kid an just screamed at te side if the pool.
