Imo, they started to mess too much with a good format, changing things that didn't need changing, just to get desired/preffered results. If they had left more or less well be, then the show could have lasted a few more years yet. But more than any other of this type of show, it became way more about the judges than the contestants, it also tended to concentrate on the inevitable romances that emerged from the show rather than the ice skating side, especially pushing such stories if it involved a favourite contestant as was evident from the last show. Thankfully that backfired on them.
I used to love watching this show, but it has become more of a chore to watch it now, rather than a joy. I watch it just hoping that it gets back on track so I can enjoy it again, but that's not going to happen. So maybe now is the right time for the show to bow out.
