It's clear it won't ever go over 4m nightly again (but then again, you never know. Ch5 is finding its feet with a lot of their programs), but I don't think we should rule out another boost of ratings for this series or in the future when new viewers come, or when intrigued old viewers are curious.

All you need is a good series to make the next one a success. For all we know, this series can average 2.1m, BB15 could average 2.7m, and it could hit 3m in the future.

Reality shows are very up and down (see Strictly who has blossomed lately, and DOI which flopped in comparison to its previous series). A lot of reality has been declining in ratings whereas CBB/BB and IAC built on the previous. Some people are picky. DOI had a terrible year, but next series a 1m+ boost could happen.

In terms of the quality aspect of "glory days", possibly yes. If people give the launch a shot and enjoy it, they will stick around, and it will give the producers the will to keep on what they are doing. This series could be the same as BB12-BB13, or it could be the best ever series. You just can't tell until the HMs a cast. They are the real success. You could have an incredible format change, ad campaign but if the HMs are bores, then nothing can be done. If it does go more "upmarket", then this could get the papers into it again.
Doesn't matter if DOI gets a boost or not, it's been axed, the next series is it's last, however it rates.
