I've worked in the same bar for 15 years and have seen at least 3 people go from respectable, hard working people lose everything and hit rock bottom through drink.
It does make me feel a bit bad, but if I don't serve them they'll only go elsewhere and drink just the same.
The one thing in my time there that did make me feel awful was serving a heavily pregnant woman pints of cider
