Well, I donate to causes if a close friend is doing something for one, but Ben specified that that doesn't count, and to be honest I only do it if it's a good friend and they're doing it for a good reason. For example, my friend's dad passed away after fighting cancer for years, and they were raising money for the hospice that looked after him towards the end of his life because that's what he wanted rather than people spending money on flowers or anything like that.

Maybe I'm just an awful human being, but there are certain types of people who are constantly doing charity fundraisers and I feel like it takes the shine off of the whole experience when there are people doing it all the time... if you're going to run a marathon, run a marathon, don't expect me to sponsor you because you're doing something you wanted to do... but if you're raising money for a cancer charity because you lost your mum to cancer and she was really into her running but you were always hopeless at it and you've decided to train for running one in her memory, then I'm all for donating money to you. Is it just me? I dunno.
