The thing is, British female solo artists are just basing themselves on Norah Jones, i.e. they're going for more chilled out laid-back vocals and overwhelming orchestral backing music. Look at the candidates, I can obviously tell the difference between them but Corinne Bailey Rae, Amy Winehouse and Nerina Pallot are practically identical in singing abilities. I detest Lily, but I concede that she's got something going for her. Out of the candidates, I'd only ever consider picking Jamelia for an award and even then... I'm sure we used to have far stronger singers in that category. Shocking...
