I could also be wrong about his motivation, as his history with the police could have left him with quite a common sense of entitlement to other people's private information, irrespective of their desire to share this or not. This is seen as he takes people to an environment he feels he can be dominant in - the treehouse - in which he proceeds with his 1:1 interrogations. Or am I paranoid at 1am?

But Dan is
not wrong and you can't compare it to you suspecting Sallie is a Satan incarnate because that's on a completely different, more outrageous scale than Michael being a mole. Which he is. Dan doesn't need to moderate his behavior because Michael sucked at the job. Everyone knows he's a mole and Michael isn't even acting anymore. He's the main secret and lie and Dan sussed him out rather quickly, I don't see why that's apparently a mortal sin.
