Default Monday night’s Big Brother became the most-watched highlights programme for the show

Day 32 highlights of Big Brother: Secrets and Lies averaged 1.52 milion at 10pm last night, with an additional 173k viewers on +1 bringing the overall rating to an impressive 1.69 million.

This is the highest overnight rating the public edition of Big Brother has received for a highlights show since the reality contest moved to Channel 5 in 2011.

The previous best was 1.65m on Day 7 last year.

Yesterday’s show was originally planned to include a live nominations twist, but this was dropped in order to focus on Daley’s controversial behaviour on Sunday night, and his ejection on Monday which would not normally have been shown until this evening.

In the same timeslot, My £9.50 Holiday received 2.35m on BBC One and Run captured 1.46m (including +1) on Channel 4.

Coverage of the first Big Brother ejection since 2008 also helped Bit On The Side to a series high of 1.01m viewers (including 1) at 11pm.
