Sam is guilty of being pretty ordinary and not having a bad bone in his body. I imagine the producers wanted to put him in partly because of his hearing problems, and without realising it, they have demonstrated how people with difficulties get treated in society generally: they get ignored! Callum has been the only one that's taken a bit of extra time for Sam, and if Callum was not so over the top, he'd have been given a lot of credit for it.
I can't see Sam winning but it wouldn't the end of the world. After all, if we still come back after Conor's performance last year, we must all have pretty strong stomachs.
