Yeah they didn't expect it to be picked up by any major channel so when Channel 5 got it I don't think they were to worried at first as its allways been seen as a flop channel.
I think they finally realised it was going to be big competition for them though with all the media attention leading up to CBB8.
This was backed up by the bitter snipe from them on launch night when a continuity announcer introduced Twilight by saying:
‘Resurrecting the deceased might be what some channels like to do on summer evenings, but here on Channel 4, we prefer the undead.’
Channel 5 went on to have over 5 million viewers and they got about 1 million if less.
Now Channel 5 are beating the Channel 4 across the board.
