Lets face it, Sam's in it for the money, he thinks he's going to win on Monday so didn't want to take the cash, hence, his needless little "im perfect im in this for the deaf children" speech in the task room.
He was p*ssed at Dexter because he nearly walked off with most of the prize money that Sam wants so much.
