Accepting a low amount is self-defeating as the producers will always try and keep the high paid hms in the house via twists, tasks etc (to get moneys worth) and a " once famous tabloid darling, now forgotten " celeb like bruce needs 3 week bb exposure to secure more lucrative panto, tv work and appearance fees post cbb. If he were up for eviction first the producers would ensure he left as it would cost them a mere £15k.
The problem with most soap actors - regardless of age- is it's often their first big role and the role that lands them the household name status which thus typecasts them and makes it almost impossible to do anything else beyond 3 years of panto. So alternative non-acting opportunities need to be carefully managed as acting work dries up. Uk Soap actors rarely crack Hollywood and for every Rob Thomas Collier (corrie to megahit downton abbey) there's at least 20 of Jack Ryder
He should have done his research on fees, realised his worth (at worst £90k, but between £100- 180k he's actually more tabloid fodder than vicky), corrie is hot news with the high profile sex child allegations, and recently the axed " rape rapper " actor.
Even though none of this corrie controversy came to light in Bruce's Coronation Street era, he and Vicki could have shed light as corrie is uk's no 1 show and arevery topical hms in a way that Danielle, Dustin, Lauren and Abz aren't.
