Oh I agree that they were there to play a game, I just don't think most of them bothered. As I said I think the only people that played were Jemmett, Gary and Tom...the rest didn't really do that much I don't think, hence why it felt more like a hybrid between BBUK and BBUS and is IMO why I think I fell in love with the format since I was eased into it with familiar BBUK aspects (I think the house took a lot of inspiration, the missions and food comps too, and the cast felt very BBUK like as well I think), had I started with BB15 I think I'd have been put off for life
What I will say though is that having watched a load of the feeds, I think almost half of the cast had seen BBUK? Alec and Peter are big fans, Gary and Andrew had seen it too and I think Suzette is a fan as well. There were quite a few in depth discussions about BBUK actually which was weird to hear but Alec was always pointing out how stuff the producers were doing in BBUK were being inspired from BBUK and saying he thought it was a good thing.
I still agree with a comment he made during the round table too in that even though Gary may have come back, the Canadian vote was still a competition and it's one he won so that has to be respected. He said that this wasn't BBUS, it was BBCAN and if that was an element of their show then that has to be taken into consideration and I agree really. If the PowerShifts continue next year then I think it's safe to say they want it to be a hybrid which is fine IMO, it just means it's a different kind of game with more of a popularity contest aspect and so that should be remembered when viewing I think. I'm a big fan of the pure BBUS game but if BBCAN wants to create some half-way kind of game then I think that's cool too, it's then three totally different formats for me to watch each year (strictly popularity with BBUK, strictly strategic with BBUS and a mixture of both with BBCAN).
